What did Paul McCartney say about Pet Sounds?
PAUL: “I thought it was a great record. It didn't quite have the emotional thing that Pet Sounds had for me. I've often played Pet Sounds and cried. It's that kind of an album for me.
Paul has also acknowledged Pet Sounds as the primary impetus behind The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
“I didn't dislike the Pet Sounds material at all,” he said. “I thought it was brilliant. We all worked on it very assiduously.” Love said it was Capitol Records' A&R record executive Karl Engemann who disliked the album for straying from The Beach Boys' previous songs.
For McCartney in particular, “Good Vibrations” had arrived like a warning beacon. To his mind, the song's greatness was indisputable, although it lacked the emotional depth of Pet Sounds. “I've often played Pet Sounds and cried,” he later admitted.
Although their intimate conversations remained private, Paul's wife Linda McCartney once revealed John Lennon's last words to his former band mate. As Ultimate Classic Rock reveal, they were: “Think about me every now and then, old friend.”
The European Chemicals Agency continues to demand the use of thousands of rabbits, rats, fish, and other animals in cosmetics ingredients tests,” says McCartney - a longtime vegetarian and animal advocate. “But you can help put a stop to it. No animal should suffer for beauty,” he adds.
Pet Sounds redefined what pop music was and more importantly, showed what it could aspire to be; that there should be no barriers or limits to musical self-expression. As soon as it was released, it fuelled The Beatles' ambition to reach new creative heights in the recording studio.
Three great influences that shaped The Beatles' music include Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and The one and only King, Elvis Presley. While all three of these musicians impacted The Beatles strongly, Elvis' style, sound, and all around charisma left a lasting impression on all four of the young, eager members.
Like The Beatles and the Stones, The Beatles and The Beach Boys weren't actually enemies; they were friends and they were both fans of -- and influenced by -- each other's music.
A new cinema documentary called Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road, which looks at the life of The Beach Boys star Brian Wilson, has just hit cinemas. The documentary film will look at the life of The Beach Boys co-founder, including his struggle with schizoaffective disorder.
Who was the most talented beach boy?
Brian Wilson is one of the true greats of pop and rock history, and one of the most gifted musicians of his generation.
Throughout his career, the Beach Boy has battled schizoaffective disorder and depression. Throughout his career, the Beach Boy has battled schizoaffective disorder and depression.

While many of the songs on the list will have a staunch place in McCartney's heart, one song will always be regarded as his favourite—'God Only Knows' by Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys.
As for which one of the many, many Beatles songs he's listened to the most throughout his life, it's “Let It Be,” naturally. “It's the most ubiquitous,” he said. “It sort of got everywhere. Ubiquitous from the Latin, ubi quo, meaning 'everywhere.
However, when faced with the question, McCartney did provide an answer: “I kind of like 'Day Tripper' and I like it because it is a bit of a challenge to sing the song over it…and it's not a bad bassline either.” 'Day Tripper' is a classic piece of Beatles iconography.
Pete Shotton, known in Beatles lore as John Lennon's best friend during their childhood days in Liverpool and a member of Quarrymen, has passed away. He was 75.
Passing away at Sir Paul McCartney's American home, George Harrison had wife Olivia Harrison by his side until the end. According to those present, his final words were: “Everything else can wait, but the search for God cannot wait, and love one another.”
When Starr told the guitarist he had to depart for Boston, Harrison responded, “Do you want me to come with ya?” Those were Harrison's final words to Starr. McCartney also spent time with Harrison just before his death. Macca once revealed that though Harrison's body was failing him, his spirit was not.
More Stories by Starr. Paul McCartney is continuing his work with PETA — this time advocating for the nonprofit animal rights organization's “Save Cruelty Free Cosmetics” European Citizen's Initiative to uphold the ban of animal testing for cosmetic items.
Iggy Pop. “Godfather of Punk” Iggy Pop has worked with PETA on multiple occasions to speak out against animal testing.
Which Beatle is vegan?
In the history of rock music, no band has ever matched the Beatles' success and influence. Paul McCartney co-wrote most of their songs, sang, and played bass guitar. He has been a vegetarian since 1975, and has long been among the most prominent celebrities to demonstrate massive commitment to animal protection.
To confirm this, Pet Sounds has been widely ranked as one of the most influential records ever released and has been ranked at #1 in several music magazines lists of greatest albums of all time, including New Musical Express, The Times and Mojo Magazine.
As critic Dave Marsh put it, "Pet Sounds wasn't a commercial flop, but it did signal that the group was losing contact with its listeners." But Wilson's peers were listening, and so would younger artists, and Pet Sounds innovations would echo in the art-rock of the Seventies and the indie-pop of the Nineties.
Paul McCartney is an avid animal rights activist, consistently advocating for plant-based diets and teaming up with PETA on a number of campaigns. In his latest work with the animal ethics organization, the Beatles legend dropped a music video on Wednesday (Oct. 23) for his 1993 protest tune, “Looking For Changes.”
Prince was never a major fan of The Beatles, unlike many of his peers. He knew who they were, but according to band mates, he wasn't obsessed with them. Sir Paul McCartney, however, loved Prince's music and persona. So much so, in fact, that he admitted that two of his songs were influenced by Prince's style.
Whatever the reason, it was only after the American press got hold of his words some five months later that the John Lennon comment that first appeared in the London Evening Standard on March 4, 1966, erupted into the “Bigger than Jesus” scandal that brought a semi-official end to the giddy phenomenon known as ...
Fifty years ago today, the London Evening Standard published an interview with John Lennon that became an enduring part of the Beatles' legacy. “We're more popular than Jesus now,” Lennon told the rock journalist Maureen Cleave. “I don't know which will go first—rock 'n' roll or Christianity.”
Paul McCartney is Americans' favorite Beatle; John Lennon is Americans' least favorite. Note: Only asked of people who said they loved or liked at least one Beatle.
The Beatles' split and subsequent falling out between John Lennon and Paul McCartney remains a frequently debated aspect of rock history. The tension between the two led to numerous jabs within their albums and singles in the following years, and the two continued to use one another as inspiration after they disbanded.
They got off with a little help from their friends. Beatles Paul McCartney and John Lennon had a real-life Lonely Hearts Club in their youth — when they masturbated together while yelling out, “Brigitte Bardot!” Sir Paul revealed in an eye-poppingly candid new interview published Tuesday.
What song did Paul McCartney wrote for his dog?
"Martha My Dear" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1968 eponymous double album The Beatles (also known as the "White Album"). Credited to Lennon–McCartney, the song was written solely by Paul McCartney inspired in title only by his Old English Sheepdog, Martha.
"Wouldn't It Be Nice" was first released on May 14, 1966 as the opening track on Pet Sounds.
In an interview in 2013, Paul McCartney said that he. added a frequency only dogs can hear to the end of. the Beatles song 'A Day in the Life'.
Musician Paul McCartney of Beatles fame loved his old sheepdog so much that he wrote a song about her. "Martha My Dear," is about Paul's first pet. Rolling Stone magazine reported that Paul said, "I remember John being amazed to see me being so loving to an animal.
Stones, Beatles have long-standing rivalry
Jagger, 78, and McCartney, 79, have been part of the long-standing rivalry between the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Jagger poked fun at McCartney after the musician called the Rolling Stones a "blues cover band" during a recent interview.
“We went through some pretty strange times,” Mick Jagger shared while inducting the Beatles into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. “We had a sort of — a lot of rivalry in those early years, and a little bit of friction, but we always ended up friends.
